Thai Basil Beef Bowl

2 servings
A quick and flavorful ground beef bowl serveed over warm rice for an easy dinner that comes together in under 20 minutes.
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil
  • 2 servings cooked jasmine rice
  • 2 shallots, diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 –6 Thai chili peppers, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves, loosely packed

Instructions

  1. Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shallots, garlic, and Thai chili peppers. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula. Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked and lightly browned.
  3. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Toss everything together until the beef is evenly coated. Continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly and coat the beef.
  4. Turn off the heat and add the Thai basil leaves. Toss until the basil is just wilted from the residual heat.
  5. Divide the jasmine rice between two bowls and spoon the Thai basil beef over the top. Serve immediately.
